/ PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Over four weeks, I designed a lounge chair using known user dimensions and ergonomic standards to inform form, scale, and comfort. The project followed an end-to-end furniture design process, including concept development, iterative prototyping, and physical testing. Throughout the process, I considered manufacturability alongside user comfort, ensuring the final design balances aesthetic clarity, structural feasibility, and production-minded decision-making.

The final product.

The design process began with rapid sketching, and ended with a final scaled sketch and list of material needs.

The final sketch was drawn at full scale before cutting materials.

The materials were cut and all angles and lengths were verified before welding.

Frames were welded and painted, followed by strap installation to complete the structure

The final design mirrored the original sketch.

Cushions were sewn and filled to improve comfort.

/ RESULTS
The final lounge chair was well received by both industry professionals and peers, earning specific praise for its comfort, ergonomic support, and craftsmanship. Feedback highlighted the chair’s thoughtful proportions, attention to detail, and the successful balance between visual refinement and structural integrity. The project demonstrated a strong ability to translate ergonomic research and material considerations into a comfortable, well-crafted piece.
